So who else’s family gave them a low-level eating disorder?

It’s amazing to me how women (maybe men, too?) automatically commend one another for losing weight, as if it’s always an achievement.

First off, I lost MAYBE 5 lbs. I’m only 5 feet tall, so it’s noticeable, but it’s not like The Biggest Loser, you know?

But the women in my family are all, “OMG, you look so tiny! You’re wasting away!”

“Wasting away” is a compliment, y’all.

“Oh, thanks. That’s what happens when I can’t be bothered to eat because it just seems too difficult. My metabolism is fucked for life, but I’m a size 4! I’m glad my body is shrinking — it’ll match my soul and my motivation to do anything. I like to coordinate. Ooh, do we like the flats or the heels with my sexy new emaciation?”
